ANNOUNCEMENTS
Draft 2024 NOFO Project Scorecards
The draft scoring tools for the annual Notice of Funding Opportunity have been posted for community review. Feedback will be solicited in additional public meetings and Collaboratives in the coming months. As revisions occur, please keep an eye on the CoC Notice of Funding Opportunity webpage for the latest versions. To submit any questions or suggestions, please contact Dillon Belmont at DBelmont@azmag.gov.

Maricopa Regional Continuum of Care Award
We are delighted to open nominations for the Maricopa Regional Continuum of Care Member Award, an accolade designed to recognize individuals on a quarterly basis who have demonstrated exceptional dedication and contributions to the mission of ending homelessness within our community. The Continuum of Care Board met to discuss Strategic Planning and what 2024 has in store. The Board will reconvene in January to finalize Strategic Planning before the Board meeting at the end of the month.
The Continuum of Care Collaborative welcomed seven new members and received presentations on the System Flow Dashboard and System Performance and Program Performance Measures. They also received an update on the Point in Time Count.
The Coordinated Entry Collaborative launched the training and HMIS updates for the pilot CE assessment tool. The CE Lead Agencies began training frontline staff on the updated assessment questions.
The Data Collaborative heard presentations on the Q3 Homelessness Trends Report, System Performance Measures, and the 2024 data standards. Additionally, the Collaborative reviewed and discussed the effects of the outreach activity policy change on the System Flow Dashboard October data.
The ESG Collaborative did not meet in December, due the holiday schedule, but focused on agenda-setting for January’s upcoming meeting. The priority for ESG will be to continuing the work from service provider feedback sessions and alignment with the CoC’s 2024 Strategic Plan.
The Lived Experience Collaborative reviewed the feedback received on the Shelter Bill of Rights and considered the changes that have been recommended.
The Race Equity Collaborative leadership are focusing meetings and speakers on the four identified goals in the 2021 Race Equity report: redesigning the Coordinated Entry assessment, inclusion of people with lived experience, building capacity to use data, and workforce development. On December 8, 2023, leaders from Racial Equity Partners provided a webinar on understanding racism and its history. There was great participation from attendees. The training has been saved to the CoC Learning Gateway for future use.
The Youth Action Collaborative received updates on the Continuum of Care Board, the Strategic Plan, and the Point in Time Count.
The By-Name List Workgroup has begun reviewing their created training and making final adjustments before announcing its availability in the CoC Learning Gateway.
The Communications Workgroup continues to review Communications for the CoC. In February, the group will convene to discuss talking points for the Homelessness Trends Report, review Homeless 101, and discuss how to further messaging for 2024.
The Connecting to Systems of Care Workgroup reviewed feedback from the ESG Collaborative on flexible funding requests and discussed current allowable expenses under ESG contracts. The workgroup will review expenses that are not covered by ESG and see if resources currently exist to fill that need.
The Continuum Referral to External Systems Workgroup reviewed draft one-pagers designed for case managers and director support personnel to facilitate effective referrals to the healthcare and homelessness systems, and to enhance understanding of county and municipal specialty courts. Following input from the workgroup, these systems will be further segmented into more specific one-pagers, covering physical healthcare, mental healthcare, homelessness prevention, homelessness response, and housing support. At the workgroup’s January meeting, the final design of the one-pagers will be reviewed, and discussions will be held about marketing and disseminating these new resources.
The Data Insights Workgroup met in December to continue discussing AZHAC’s presented data. The group will be reviewing the data through a Rapid Rehousing lens in the new year and decide if actionable recommendations can be pulled from the analysis.
The Emergency Shelter Workgroup will resume in January with peer-to-peer learning on best practices in emergency shelter. In January, the group will discuss public health topics including substance use. If interested in joining, reach out to Brian Gruters at bgruters@azmag.gov.
The Move On Workgroup saw its first candidate referrals sent to Coordinated Entry for eligibility review and referrals to Public Housing Authorities participating in the Move-On program.
The Outreach Workgroup completed the last of six feedback sessions on the draft Outreach Standards. The first review sessions will take place in January. If interested in participating, reach out to Brian Gruters at bgruters@azmag.gov.
