MAG Regional Analytics Digest: Quarterly update for MAG data and map users

Regional Analytics Digest | August 2022 | Maricopa Association of Governments
Inside this Issue:

Schools Data Center

It’s back to school time! MAG, in partnership with Read On Arizona, has built some powerful tools for exploring and comparing Arizona schools. With the Explore Arizona Schools tool, parents can learn about the education options for their family, from pre-K to high school and see how schools have performed over the years. The Arizona Schools Data Center is a comparative dashboard that provides analytics on enrollment, attendance, and assessment trend results by school, grade, and subgroup.

GIS Data Portal

MAG has made a number of geographic information systems (GIS) files publicly available for easy access and download. Census data, employers, land use, long range projections, freeways, bikeways, rail, boundaries, and more can be downloaded in a number of useful formats from https://geodata-azmag.opendata.arcgis.com/.

Heat Relief Network

The Heat Relief Network will be active through September and encourages anyone seeking heat relief or a place to drop off donations to utilize the Heat Relief Locator on their mobile device. After entering an address, ZIP code, city or by using their current location, the user can view a list of the nearest heat relief locations and donation sites, filter by what is currently open, and link to Google Maps for directions.

Virtual Maps & Data Training

Dates and times for the FREE 2022 MAG Maps & Data virtual workshops are posted on the map viewer training site, with links to the Eventbrite registration sites. These webinars are designed to introduce you to MAG’s powerful interactive map viewers and exclusive regional datasets, which can be accessed by anyone from any online device. The remaining webinars for 2022 are scheduled for August 18 and October 27! If your group of 10 or more would like a free personalized webinar, contact us at maps@azmag.gov.

Find What You Need, Let Us Know What You Think

Are you looking for data and maps? MAG's Regional Analytics Division collects, analyzes, visualizes, and shares data for the purposes of regional transportation and air quality planning. We also have maps and data that cover economics, recreation, and more. There are three simple links that make it easy to access all our data and mapping tools: data.azmag.gov (Maps & Data), maps.azmag.gov (interactive map viewers), and rad.azmag.gov (Regional Analytics Division). We love to share these data tools with the public and are always looking for ways to expand and improve our offerings. If you use MAG maps and data tools and would love to see us add a dataset, map, or data tool function, please contact us at maps@azmag.gov!
