Detours scheduled Monday through Wednesday for final paving at Blake Ranch Road
As construction crews are scheduled to finish paving the westbound lanes of a 15-mile segment of Interstate 40 east of Kingman next week, motorists are advised work is still underway, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation. The upcoming schedule will include the several activities within the Rattlesnake Wash and US 93 (mileposts 57 to 71.5) work zone:
On Saturday, Oct. 25: paving is scheduled in the east- and westbound lanes near Rattlesnake Wash (milepost 57) to DW Ranch Road (milepost 59), from 4 a.m. to noon.
On Monday, Oct. 27 and Tuesday, Oct. 28, from 4 a.m. to 6 p.m., detours will be clearly marked, and the following restrictions will be in place for the final paving work at the Blake Ranch Road traffic interchange (Exit 66):
-
Monday: Crews are scheduled to close and pave the westbound on- and off-ramps. Motorists will be detoured to Kingman, a six-mile detour, then return eastbound on I-40 to DW Ranch Road (milepost 59).
-
Tuesday: Crews are scheduled to close and pave the eastbound on- and off-ramps. Motorists will be detoured six miles to the US 93 traffic junction, then return westbound to Blake Ranch Road.
Wednesday, Oct. 29: Crews are scheduled to pave the roadway under the Blake Ranch Road traffic interchange (Exit 66); this work will require the closure of Blake Ranch Road at the I-40 overpass. While both the off- and on-ramps will be open, there will be a detour in place for motorists traveling north- and southbound on Blake Ranch Road, 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Business access will be maintained at all times.
Monday through Friday (mid-November): I-40 paving is scheduled for the westbound lane (far right truck lane), and is set to be completed next week. After this work is finished, crews will continue paving the final eastbound lane. This work is scheduled 4 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily. Motorists should be prepared for delays of up to 15 minutes.
Business access will be maintained at all times.
While the newly paved roadway is expected to be completed in early November, additional project work will still need to be finished. This work, including installing raised pavement markers, will require intermittent lane closures.
ADOT advises drivers to slow down, proceed through the work zone with caution, and be alert for construction equipment and personnel.
