Eastbound I-10 Sunland Gin Road off-ramp near Casa Grande to close next week for paving

The eastbound Interstate 10 off-ramp at Sunland Gin Road (Exit 200) will be closed for 60 consecutive hours for paving as part of the project to widen I-10 from State Route 87 to I-8. Crews will work around the clock from 7 p.m. Tuesday (July 19) to 6 a.m. Friday (July 22) to complete the work.

The following detour is available:

Motorists on eastbound I-10 wishing to exit at Sunland Gin Road will be directed to exit at Jimmie Kerr Boulevard (exit 198) approximately two miles before the Sunland Gin Road exit. Drivers will make a left turn on Jimmie Kerr Boulevard and a right turn on Sunland Gin Road.

What to expect during the closure:

  • The eastbound I-10 exit ramp at Sunland Gin Road will be closed from 7 p.m. Tuesday to 6 a.m. Friday.
  • The eastbound I-10 entrance ramp at Sunland Gin Road will still be open.
  • Motorists may still use the entrance and exit ramps for westbound I-10 at Sunland Gin Road.
  • Signage will inform drivers of restrictions and detours.
  • Detours may cause delays of up to 10 minutes.
  • Drivers should proceed through the detours with caution, slow down, and be alert for construction equipment and personnel.

Interstate 10 is being widened from two to three lanes in each direction between Picacho and Casa Grande to reduce traffic congestion and improve safety along this heavily traveled corridor. The $31.3 million American Recovery and Reinvestment Act project is anticipated to be complete during spring 2012.

The construction project schedule is subject to change due to a variety of reasons, including weather, material availability and mechanical difficulties

ADOT works to inform the public about planned highway restrictions, but there is a possibility that unscheduled closures or restrictions may occur. Weather can also affect a project schedule.
