McGuireville rest area to reopen in time for holiday travel
Rest areas are open statewide for summer travel

 

PHOENIX – The McGuireville rest area along Interstate 17 near State Route 179 will reopen to travelers on Friday, in time for the Fourth of July weekend travel.

 

The rest area was closed on Sunday for emergency repairs to the water system. It will reopen, even if under temporary repair, to ensure that travelers along I-17 will have a place to stop and take a break during the holiday weekend.

 

The McGuireville rest area is one of 14 rest areas open to travelers in Arizona. They include:

 

Haviland, Meteor Crater and Painted Cliffs along I-40; Ehrenberg, Bouse Wash, Burnt Well, Sacaton, Texas Canyon and San Simon along I-10; Canoa Ranch along I-19; Sentinel along I-8; McGuireville and Sunset Point along I-17; and Hassayampa along US 60.

 

Parks rest area along I-40, Mazatzal rest area along SR 87, Salt River Canyon rest area along US 60 and Mohawk rest area along I-8 remain closed due to major repair issues.
