Water line break closes eastbound Ajo Way west of Tucson
Detour in place for eastbound traffic on State Route 86
A water line break has required the closure of eastbound State Route 86 (Ajo Way) between Camino Verde and Kinney Road west of Tucson this afternoon, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.
Eastbound traffic is being detoured onto southbound Camino Verde to Valencia Road. Motorists can either take Valencia Road to Interstate 19 or use Mark Road, which turns into Joseph Road north to Irvington Road, then west to Kinney Road to return to Ajo Way.
Westbound Ajo Way remains open to traffic using the highway shoulder. Delays can be expected.
The city of Tucson and ADOT are working to repair the leak and expect to have the eastbound lanes open to traffic by Friday evening.
