National Public Works WeekDate: May 19-25, 2024
Organization: American Public Works Association (APWA)

Every year National Public Works Week gets bigger and better. The number of participating municipalities continues to grow, which means the number of citizens who are exposed to the value of public works grows. At APWA one of our main goals is to educate the public about the value and necessities of public works projects throughout North America, as well as internationally, and public works professionals like you are our best ambassadors.

The theme this year is "Advancing Quality of Life for All". This year’s poster illustrates how public works professionals contribute to and enhance the quality of life in all the communities they proudly serve.

PROWAG Guidelines and Roundabouts

Date: May 7, 2024
Time: 12:00 pm to 1:30 pm MT
Cost: Free members/$79 non-members
Organization: Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE)

In August 2023, the US Access Board released the Final Rule on Public Right-of-Way Accessibility Guidelines (PROWAG). The purpose of this guideline is to help federal, state, and local government bodies make their pedestrian facilities, such as sidewalks, crosswalks, shared-use paths, and on-street parking, accessible to people with disabilities. The new PROWAG Guidelines are expected to bring significant changes to the roadway network, including traffic control locations like roundabouts.

This webinar aims to provide an overview of the regulation and design changes brought by the new PROWAG Guidelines and their impact on the design of roundabouts.

Road Safety Audits - From Concept to Results

Date: May 6-16, 2024
Location: Online
Organization: International Road Federation

Road safety audit and inspections serve the common purpose of identifying risk factors related to road design or traffic control that may lead to crashes, or make crashes more severe. In many cases, they also assist network highway operators and city traffic departments in identifying engineering weaknesses and hazardous locations, even in the absence of robust traffic injury data.
