Plan for an overnight lane restriction on southbound I-17 from New River Road to Anthem Way, Sept. 23-24

Preconstruction work in conjunction with the Interstate 17 Improvement Project between Anthem Way and Sunset Point will require an overnight closure of a southbound lane.

The Arizona Department of Transportation reminds drivers to slow down, proceed through the work zone with caution and watch for construction personnel and equipment while the following restriction is in place:

  • Southbound I-17 will be narrowed to one lane (right lane closed) from New River Road to Anthem Way (mileposts 232-229) from 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 23, to 6 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 24, for paving work.

The I-17 Improvement Project between Anthem Way and Sunset Point includes widening 15 miles of north- and southbound I-17 between Anthem Way and Black Canyon City; replacing two bridges and widening 10 others; and constructing approximately 8 miles of flex lanes between Black Canyon City and Sunset Point. Construction is expected to last for approximately three years. Learn more at improvingi17.com or call the project information line at 1.877.476.1717.
