Expect delays on State Route 87 near Sacaton the weeks of Nov. 30 and Dec. 7 for signal activations

Motorists on State Route 87 on the Gila River Indian Community should expect intermittent lane restrictions and delays the weeks of Nov. 30 and Dec. 7 while crews activate three new signals near Sacaton.

Crews tentatively plan to turn on the signals on the following timetable:

  • Wednesday, Dec. 2 - Sacaton Road (milepost 151)
  • Thursday, Dec. 3 - SR 187/Olberg Road (milepost 146)
  • Tuesday, Dec. 8 - Gilbert Road (milepost 156)

During the signal activation process, motorists should expect flaggers and law enforcement to briefly stop traffic. In addition, intermittent lane shifts are likely.

Short delays are also possible the days before and after the activation as crews install final equipment and adjust pavement markings and signs.

Motorists should follow the direction of flaggers and law enforcement, allow extra travel time and use caution around construction personnel and equipment.
