BRIDGE CONSTRUCTION BEGINS AT LOOP 303 AND WADDELL ROAD IN SURPRISE

Plan for short- and long-term closures at intersection; work also underway on traffic interchange at Loop 303 and Interstate 10

PHOENIX - As crews build a new overpass on northbound Loop 303 at Waddell Road, drivers should plan for intersection restrictions lasting from just a few hours to several months. Beginning at 5 p.m. Sunday, Waddell Road east of Loop 303 to Sarival Avenue will be closed in both directions through summer 2012. Drivers can use Cactus or Greenway roads instead.

Loop 303 will be closed in both directions between Cactus and Greenway roads and Waddell Road will be closed between Sarival Avenue and Cotton Lane from 9 p.m. Sunday to 4 a.m. Monday (Jan. 9) for relocation of utility poles. Use Reems Road for north/south travel; use Cactus or Greenway roads for east/west travel.  As noted, Waddell Road will re-open west of Loop 303 early Monday, but Waddell Road east of Loop 303 to Sarival Avenue will remain closed through summer 2012.

To the south, Cotton Lane will be closed intermittently in both directions south of I-10 from 10 p.m. Friday to 4 a.m. Saturday (Jan. 7) for APS utility work. Drivers could experience closures of up to 15 minutes. Also, construction of the freeway-to-freeway interchange at Loop 303 and Interstate 10 is underway and traffic restrictions are expected during this phase of the project.
