Loop 101 (Pima Freeway) Improvement Project – Interstate 17 to Pima Road: Scheduled road closures, restrictions for week of June 3

The Arizona Department of Transportation advises drivers to slow down and use caution around construction personnel and equipment while the following restrictions are scheduled to be in place during the week of June 3:

19th Avenue at Loop 101

  • 19th Avenue will be closed in both directions between the Loop 101 west- and eastbound frontage roads nightly from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday, June 3, through the morning of Thursday, June 6.

Seventh Street at Loop 101

  • Seventh Street will be closed in both directions between the Loop 101 west- and eastbound frontage roads from 9 p.m. Thursday, June 6, to 5 a.m. Friday, June 7, and from 10 p.m. Friday, June 7, to 5 a.m. Monday, June 10.
  • The northbound Seventh Street left-turn bay to westbound Loop 101 will be reduced to one lane beginning Monday, June 3, and remain one lane while construction of the Seventh Street bridge is underway.

Cave Creek Road at Loop 101

  • The eastbound Loop 101 on-ramp at Cave Creek Road will be closed daily from 7 a.m. to     3 p.m. Monday, June 3, through Thursday, June 6.
  • The westbound Loop 101 frontage road west of Cave Creek Road will be restricted to one lane daily from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday, June 3, through Wednesday, June 5.
  • Eastbound Mohawk Lane will be periodically restricted east of Cave Creek Road from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday, June 3, and Tuesday, June 4.

56th Street at Loop 101

  • 56th Street will be closed in both directions between the Loop 101 west- and eastbound frontage roads from 10 p.m. Friday, June 7, to 5 a.m. Monday, June 10.
  • The north- and southbound inside left-turn lanes at 56th Street and Loop 101 will close from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday, June 4, and Wednesday, June 5.
  • NOTE: Freeway ramps and frontage roads will remain open during all the above closures at 19th Avenue, Seventh and 56th streets, but north-south travel under the freeway overpasses will be restricted.

Scheduled Upcoming Closures

  • 19th Avenue and 56th Street are planned to close in both directions between the west- and eastbound Loop 101 frontage roads from 10 p.m. Friday, June 14 to 5 a.m. Monday, June 17.

Closures are planned to continue each weekend through the summer on a segment of Loop 101 (Pima Freeway) between I-17 and Princess Drive/Pima Road as work continues on the widening project. Drivers should plan ahead and visit the project website for upcoming weekend travel restrictions before using the freeway for weekend travel.
