Maricopa-Casa Grande Highway scheduled to close overnight at State Route 347 Tuesday, April 30 for final deck pour

The Arizona Department of Transportation is advising drivers that Maricopa-Casa Grande Highway (MCGH) will be closed overnight on Tuesday, April 30, for State Route 347 overpass work.

MCGH will be closed in both directions between SR 347 and Pershing Street from 10 p.m. Tuesday, April 30, to 5 a.m. Wednesday, May 1.

The full closure is needed as crews pour the concrete bridge deck for the final section of the SR 347 overpass that will span over MCGH.

ADOT advises drivers to slow down and use caution while the closure and detours are in place:

MCGH-to-SR 347 Detour

  • Travel north on Maricopa Groves Parkway/Donithan Way, and then turn west on Butterfield Parkway. Proceed west on Edison Road to SR 347.
  • Bus and truck traffic: Travel north on White and Parker Road, and then turn west on Smith Enke Road to SR 347.

SR 347-to-MCGH Detour

  • Travel east on Edison Road, and then turn
south on Butterfield Parkway. Proceed south on
Donithan Way/Maricopa Groves Parkway to MCGH.
  • Bus and truck traffic: Travel east on Smith Enke Road, and then turn south on White and Parker Road.

SR 347 will remain open while the closure of MCGH is in effect.

Completing the deck pour moves ADOT ever closer to opening the overpass and new SR 347 alignment by summer. The $55 million overpass project will eliminate the need for drivers to wait for trains crossing SR 347.

Train and vehicular traffic are expected to double in the area over the next 20 years.
