PHOENIX – A meeting will be held Wednesday, April 24, to provide information about planned improvements at the Interstate 17 traffic interchange with Indian School Road in Phoenix.
The Arizona Department of Transportation will host the meeting to discuss an ongoing study on designing a three-tier interchange, including a new overpass to carry and improve the flow of Indian School Road traffic over I-17.
The meeting is scheduled as follows:

The ADOT study team will share the preliminary design concept, including drawings and visual simulations, for the proposed interchange. Team members will also gather public input and be available to answer questions. The meeting will be an open house with a formal presentation at 5:30 p.m., followed by a brief question-and-answer session.
The three levels of the proposed design for the Indian School Road interchange would include the existing I-17 freeway on the bottom level, freeway on- and off-ramps plus frontage road connections at the second level and the Indian School Road overpass as a new third level. If approved via the study process, the project is scheduled for construction after July 1, 2020. An exact start date would depend on federal approval of the study and completion of final design by summer 2020. ADOT also is studying a no-build alternative for the project, which is part of the Maricopa Association of Governments Regional Transportation Plan approved by county voters in 2004.
