Drivers who use State Route 88 should expect delays - and vehicles wider than 8 feet must use an alternate route - on Monday, March 25, as Arizona Department of Transportation crews remove a large boulder from the shoulder of the roadway near Tortilla Flat.
SR 88 will be closed intermittently in both directions and an 8-foot vehicle-width restriction will be in place between 6 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday near milepost 214, about 1 mile east of Tortilla Loop Forest Service Road and 3 miles east of Canyon Lake.
Drivers should watch for flaggers and be prepared to stop for up to 15 minutes at a time throughout the day as crews use specialized equipment to fracture the boulder into smaller pieces that can be hauled away. Vehicles wider than 8 feet should delay travel or use an alternate route.
