Expect delays on State Route 86 (Ajo Way) and Kinney Road for paving beginning June 18

The Arizona Department of Transportation advises Tucson-area drivers to plan for delays near the intersection of State Route 86 (Ajo Way) and Kinney Road starting Monday, June 18.

Intermittent traffic stops will be required each weekday through early July from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. for paving. Motorists should expect traffic control changes and trucks entering and leaving traffic flow at various locations in the work zone.

Drivers should expect the following delays while work is underway:

  • Northbound and southbound traffic on Kinney Road should prepare for delays of approximately 20 minutes and may want to consider alternate routes.
  • Eastbound and westbound traffic on State Route 86 should prepare for 10-minute delays.

Please proceed through the work zone with caution, slow down and watch for construction personnel and equipment.

The $40 million project is expected to be complete in fall 2018. Learn more on the project web site.
