This weekend’s races at PIR could slow traffic for West Valley drivers on Interstate 10, Loop 101

Plan ahead, allow extra travel time and follow directions on signs

Drivers in the West Valley should expect heavy freeway traffic at times this weekend because of races scheduled at Phoenix International Raceway in Avondale. High traffic volume and delays are expected on Interstate 10 (Papago Freeway) and the Loop 101 (Agua Fria Freeway). Events are scheduled at PIR Friday, Nov. 10, through Sunday, Nov. 12. The heaviest traffic is expected before and after Sunday’s NASCAR race.

Information about freeway conditions and parking for this weekend’s events will be posted on overhead and portable message signs along I-10 and Loop 101.

Drivers should allow extra travel time, consider park and ride options and pay attention to information posted on message boards. For real-time highway conditions statewide, visit ADOT’s Traveler Information Site at www.az511.gov, follow ADOT on Twitter (@ArizonaDOT) or call 511, except while driving.
