The Arizona Department of Transportation advises Tucson-area
drivers to plan for the following traffic shifts in conjunction with the State
Route 86 widening and improvement project:
-
ADOT is scheduled to
shift traffic to the north at Valencia Road from SR 86 to
approximately one half mile east of the intersection, to allow
the construction of the additional lanes on eastbound Valencia
Road, from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, August
11. Westbound traffic will be shifted over to a
temporary travel lane. Eastbound traffic will be
shifted over the current eastbound lane. Pavement markings will
be installed for the temporary configuration.
-
From 6 a.m. to 5
p.m. Friday, August 11, ADOT is planning to shift traffic to the west
at Kinney Road from SR 86 to approximately one quarter
mile north of the intersection, to allow the construction of
improvements on northbound Kinney Road. Southbound traffic
will be shifted over a temporary travel lane. Northbound traffic
will be shifted over the current northbound lane. Pavement
markings will be installed for the temporary configuration. The
duration of the temporary configuration will be determined on a later date.
The work is part of a $40 million project
to widen and improve SR 86 between Valencia and Kinney roads. Learn more on the
