Frontage road closed at Starcommerce Way for one week; Ina Road remains open through early 2017
The Interstate 10/Ina Road Traffic Interchange project in Marana just north of Tucson continues its first phase of construction and is scheduled to last through early 2017. Work includes constructing a detour for traffic to use when the Ina Road traffic interchange closes, building temporary construction easements and major utility work. During this phase, Ina Road remains open. Drivers should proceed through the work zone with caution, slow down and watch for construction equipment and personnel while the following closures and restrictions are in place:
Interstate 10
- The two left lanes on east- and westbound I-10, from Ina to Orange Grove roads will be closed nightly from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 16, to Tuesday, Oct. 18.
Interstate 10 Ramp
- The westbound I-10 off-ramp at Ina Road will be closed nightly from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 12, to Friday, Oct. 14.
Interstate 10 Frontage Road
- The westbound I-10 frontage road, from Orange Grove to Ina roads, will be closed nightly from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 12, to Friday, Oct. 14.
- Beginning 8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 16, the intersection of eastbound I-10 frontage road and Starcommerce Way will be closed for approximately one week for pavement work.
- Drivers wishing to access the eastbound I-10 frontage road from Starcommerce Way will be routed to Ina Road to I-10.
- Drivers wishing to access Starcommerce Way from the eastbound frontage road will be routed to Ina Road.
- The eastbound I-10 frontage road south of Ina Road and north of Starcommerce Way is reduced to one lane daily through fall 2016.
- The westbound I-10 frontage road is closed between Ina and Cortaro roads through the end of the year and is reduced to one lane south of Ina Road through October 2016.
- Access to all businesses will be maintained. Traffic control signs will guide drivers through the work zone.
Ina Road
- Ina Road, near the Santa Cruz River bridge, will be reduced to one lane daily from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, Oct. 10, to Friday, Oct. 14. Flaggers will direct drivers through the work zone.
- Beginning 6 a.m. Monday, Oct. 17, the right lane on westbound Ina Road, just east of I-10, will be closed for approximately two weeks.
- Ina Road has left-turn lane restrictions at Camino de Oeste (in both directions) and at Camino de la Cruz (from eastbound Ina Road only) through fall for utility work. Watch for possible U-turn restrictions while work is under way.
- Westbound Ina Road will be closed nightly from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. at Camino de la Cruz through late October for utility work. U-turns are restricted during this overnight work.
Massingale Road
- Massingale Road is closed at the westbound I-10 frontage road through 2017 while the frontage road is reconstructed. Drivers should use Camino de Oeste instead.
The project to reconstruct the interchange fully will improve traffic operations on I-10 and on the Ina Road traffic interchange. The project consists of widening I-10 to accommodate an additional lane in each direction and widening Ina Road from Silverbell Road to Camino de la Cruz.
Managed by ADOT, this project is funded by the Regional Transportation Authority of Pima County. The voter-approved, $2.1 billion RTA plan will be implemented through 2026. Details about the full plan are available at www.RTAmobility.com.
