June 3: Public feedback sought during Wednesday’s information meeting in Golden Shores about potential area transportation improvements

Mohave County, in partnership with the Federal Highway Administration and the Arizona Department of Transportation, will host a public information meeting on Wednesday, June 3, at the Golden Shores Senior Center (main hall), 13136 Golden Shores Pkwy in Topock.

Study team members will be available from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. to introduce the project to the public, present background information and request the public’s comments, concerns and ideas to help evaluate, provide guidance and develop the project design alternatives. A brief presentation is scheduled for 4:30 p.m.

Mohave County secured Federal Highway Safety Improvement Program funding on basis of a roundabout alternative to prove a monetary benefit from crash reduction likelihood exceeds improvement cost at the CR 1 at Powell Lake Rd./Golden Shores Pkwy and Powell Lake Rd/Oatman Highway intersections. The funding for this project includes a study phase to consider all alternatives before initiating conceptual and final design.

This meeting coincides with the beginning of the alternatives study phase, which is scheduled to end in July. A roundabout, thru-about and conventional intersection types will be among the considered alternatives. The next public open house is scheduled for early July at the Golden Shores Senior Center. ADOT will issue the date and time so area residents may plan ahead to attend.
