COVID-19 Bivalent Boosters Authorized for Use in Expanded Age Groups
The FDA has authorized to expand the age groups for the Moderna COVID-19 bivalent booster (ages 6+) and has authorized the Pfizer-BioNTech orange cap bivalent booster (ages 5-11) for use.
Additionally, the monovalent Pfizer orange cap COVID-19 vaccine is NO LONGER authorized to be used as booster doses for individuals 5-11 years of age.

Moderna Bivalent Booster
The Moderna Bivalent Booster (ages 6+) (NDC 80777-0282-99) is available to order in ASIIS. This product has a blue cap with a gray border on the label. Administer a 0.5 mL dose for ages 12+ and a 0.25 mL dose for ages 6-11.
This product follows the same storage guidelines as the Moderna products we are used to. This product should be administered as a single booster dose to patients at least 2 months after the patient has completed primary vaccination or has received the most recent booster dose with any authorized or approved monovalent COVID-19 vaccine.
Please note that when ordering this presentation in ASIIS you will have to choose whether to order it from the Pediatric COVID-19 order set or the Adult COVID-19 order set. It is the SAME product in both order sets, the difference is if you order this product under the pediatric order set you will receive double ancillary kit supplies to ensure you have enough needles to administer half doses (0.25mL) to the 6-11 age group. If you order this product under the adult order set you will receive only one ancillary kit (less needles). The product itself is the same.
Pfizer-BioNTech Bivalent Booster
The Pfizer Orange Cap Bivalent Booster (ages 5-11) (NDC 59267-0565-02) is available to order in ASIIS. This product looks identical to the Pfizer orange cap product used for primary series in ages 5-11. Please ensure you are double-checking the NDCs and packaging labels prior to administration. Each vial contains 10 doses (0.2 mL dose size).
This product follows the same storage guidelines as the Pfizer gray, orange, and maroon cap products we are used to. This product should be administered as a single booster dose to patients at least 2 months after the patient has completed primary vaccination or has received the most recent booster dose with any authorized or approved monovalent COVID-19 vaccine.
