Best Practices for Reporting COVID-19 Historical Doses
The Arizona Immunization Program Office (AIPO) has been reviewing COVID-19 vaccine data within ASIIS to identify any data quality issues. From our recent review, we have found that COVID-19 historical doses are often being reported with arbitrary dates (i.e. random dates that are not indicative of the true administration date). This inaccurately reported historical data is contradicting the true COVID-19 administration data which is, in turn, causing inaccurate records for patients. The AIPO will not update these patient records as we do not have the on-site clinic administration data to verify them. Providers are responsible to ensure accurate vaccination data is reported to ASIIS at all times.
To prevent this from happening, we recommend that you:
- Log into ASIIS and check the patient's record before entering historical data in ASIIS or in your EHR
- Query ASIIS with your EHR before entering and sending historical data to ASIIS
