COVID-19 Vaccine Communication from the Immunization Program Office
Today’s topic: J&J/Janssen COVID-19 Vaccine Expiration Date Extension Authorization Pending
|
J&J/Janssen has determined that at proper refrigerated storage conditions, the vaccine appears to be very stable across all the lots tested. The company is cautiously optimistic that 6 months total refrigerated storage will be authorized.
The company has informed us they are hoping to have an extension of the expiration for refrigerated storage of the vaccine to 6 months by early August.

We ask that you do the following:
- Continue to use the inventory you have to prevent loss of vaccine.
- Before ordering more supply, use the Arizona COVID-19 Vaccine Matchmaker website to find available J&J vaccine within the local area.
- Store expired doses of J&J/Janssen COVID-19 vaccines in the refrigerator marked “On Hold/Do Not Use”, while we wait for the extended expiration authorization.
- Providers can check for updated expiration dates for their Janssen vaccine by scanning the QR code or entering the lot number on the Janssen Expiry Checker."
