Officer Kyle Newman Transferred from ICU to Rehabilitation Facility
Fort Smith, AR - Today, we thank God for saving Officer Kyle Newman’s life and for the continued progress he is making in his recovery.
The Fort Smith Police Department is grateful to share that Officer Newman was transferred today from the ICU to a separate rehabilitation facility. This is a major and encouraging step forward following the critical injuries he sustained in the May 17 line-of-duty shooting.
Officer Newman’s recovery is now focused on rehabilitation, continued healing, and rebuilding strength. While Officer Newman still has a recovery road ahead of him, this is very good news. His transfer out of ICU reflects the progress he has made and the confidence of his medical team as he enters this next phase of care.
The Newman family and the Fort Smith Police Department remain deeply thankful for the prayers, support, and encouragement shown by this community, our law enforcement partners, medical professionals, and everyone who has stood with Officer Newman since the shooting.
We ask that the public continue to respect Officer Newman’s privacy and his family’s privacy as he focuses on rehabilitation. Additional updates will be provided if there are significant changes to share.
Today is a good day, and we are thankful.
Officer Kyle Newman
