TEXTS ALLEGING PERMANENT FORFEITURE OF TAX REFUNDS ARE FALSE

Fort Smith, AR – The Fort Smith Police Department is issuing a public alert regarding an incident that has come to our attention through multiple resident contacts.

The below text message was sent to several in our area on Monday, Oct. 20. The message claims to be from the Arkansas Department of Finance and Administration (DFA). These messages are fraudulent and should be reported to the Federal Bureau of Investigation at their IC3.gov Internet Crime Complaint Center.

Please do not respond to the message, click the link, or share any personal information with the sender. Additionally, you may wish to report the message to your data provider and delete it from your device. Thank you.
