HOMICIDE INVESTIGATION
Hunter Harrell, 25, arrested in connection to early morning shooting
Fort Smith, AR - At approximately 4:45 AM on Friday, July 18, Fort Smith Police responded to the 1300 block of North 38th Street for a fatal shooting. Upon arrival, 39-year-old Jerry Beane was identified as the victim.
The initial investigation determined it to be a homicide, and 25-year-old Hunter Harrell of Eureka Springs was identified as the suspect. With assistance from Sebastian County Prosecutors, FSPD was able to obtain an arrest warrant Friday morning. Harrell was later taken into custody by the Carroll County Sheriff's Office on charges of Murder in the First Degree and Discharging a Firearm from a Vehicle.
Additionally, 42-year-old Ashley Lensing, who was with Harrell at the time of his arrest and at the time of the homicide, was taken into custody on a parole violation. The investigation remains ongoing, but no other suspects or involved parties are believed to be involved with the homicide.
