SCAM ALERT

MULTIPLE LAW ENFORCEMENT IMPERSONATION CALLS REPORTED

Fort Smith, AR – The Fort Smith Police Department is issuing a public alert regarding multiple incidents over the last few days in which citizens reported receiving calls that claimed to be from current and retired law enforcement officers demanding some form of payment. One of the recent calls claimed that the call recipient had "missed jury duty" and that a warrant would be issued if an amount was not paid.

Please let this be a reminder that no law enforcement agency will ever conduct business in such a manner. We urge citizens to exercise extreme caution when encountering such phone calls.
