SCAM ALERT

"Lt Robert Morrison from the Fort Smith Police Department" calling citizens is false

Fort Smith, AR – The Fort Smith Police Department is issuing a public alert regarding an incident that came to our attention by a Sebastian County resident. This resident received a call from an individual claiming to be "Lt Robert Morrison with the Fort Smith Police Department" . This individual has called the resident and stated to them that they have missed a "summons for a federal jury trial". This individual also informed them that they had 72 hours to turn themselves in to the police department or they could pay for their civil penalty buy purchasing a card at a business for which they would tell the resident where to purchase.

The Fort Smith Police Department wants to inform the public that this is false and that there is no "Lt Robert Morrison" making these phone calls. Please note that the Fort Smith Police Department does not employee an officer or a lieutenant by this name and secondly we will NEVER call the residents of Fort Smith and/or Sebastian County about purchasing a "card" for any type of reason.

We urge citizens to exercise extreme caution when encountering such phone calls as the caller has "spoofed" our number of 479-709-5000.
