RISE Court Participants Assist in Maintaining National Cemetery Wreaths
Fort Smith, AR - The Fort Smith Police Department is proud to highlight the meaningful contributions of participants in the RISE Court alternative sentencing program. This unique program provides an opportunity for individuals to give back to the community while embracing accountability and growth.
As part of their community service, RISE Court participants have taken on the important task of maintaining the holiday wreaths at the Fort Smith National Cemetery. Under the direction of Corporal David S. Williams, who oversees the program, participants visit the cemetery several times each week to reposition wreaths that have fallen over, ensuring the site remains a respectful and dignified tribute to our nation's heroes.
“The work these individuals are doing not only helps beautify the cemetery but also reinforces the program’s mission to instill responsibility and community pride in its participants,” said Chief of Police Danny Baker. “RISE Court demonstrates how alternative sentencing programs can have a transformative impact on both individuals and the community, and we're proud to be a part of it.”
The Fort Smith Police Department commends the dedication of RISE Court participants for their role in honoring veterans and upholding the values of service and respect during this season of remembrance.
