Fort Smith Police Warn of Warrant Scam Targeting Residents

Fort Smith, AR - The Fort Smith Police Department is alerting the public to a scam involving fraudulent calls from individuals posing as area Judges. Victims have reported being contacted by someone claiming to be from Judge Sam Terry’s Office, informing them that a warrant would be issued for their arrests if they did not transfer money via PayPal or other means.

Residents are reminded that court representatives will never solicit payments over the phone, nor do they issue warrants in such a manner. If you receive such a call, please hang up immediately and report the incident to the FBI’s Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3.gov).
