Fort Smith Police welcome Dan Dennis as new Deputy Director of Administrative Services
The Fort Smith Police Department has hired Dan Dennis as the new Deputy Director of Administrative Services. Mr. Dennis comes to us from Godley, Texas, and has an extensive background serving both inside and outside of law enforcement. He and his family "have long dreamed of moving to Arkansas," he said, finally taking that step in February 2022 when he applied to FSPD while still employed as the Director of Civil Service for Haltom City, Texas. Prior to that role, he was the Chief of Police and Director of Information Technology for Forest Hill, a dual role he held for 10 years. Forest Hill City Manager Sheyi Ipaye recommended Mr. Dennis "without hesitation," describing his service to the Forest Hill Police Department as "selfless, energetic, and tireless."
Altogether, Mr. Dennis has worked as a Sworn Officer for 30 years in Patrol, Criminal Investigations, and Administration. He holds a Master of Science Degree from Sam Houston State University, completed his undergraduate work in Criminal Justice at Mountain State University in West Virginia, and attended Graduate School of Police Staff and Command through Northwestern University in Illinois.
"I am very pleased to have Mr. Dennis joining our team as my Deputy Director of Administrative Services," said Fort Smith Chief of Police Danny Baker. "His many years of successful experience as a police chief, grant administrator and IT director in the Dallas/Ft. Worth metro area will serve the citizens of Fort Smith and the River Valley very well. He understands and believes in our vision for the FSPD and wants to ensure the place he and his family are calling home now is a safe, thriving, peaceful place to live. I look forward the the great things he will help us accomplish."
Welcome aboard, Director Dennis!
