Special Notification Regarding Sales Tax Payments - Updated!
Based on your feedback from our message yesterday we wanted to provide some clarification on sales tax payments.
What You Need to Know:
Prior to January 1, 2025, Jefferson County levied a 1% Sales Tax and a companion 1% Special Sales Tax. Effective January 1, 2025, Jefferson County combined those two taxes into one Sales Tax at a rate of 2%. You only need to pay once. Please, do not make two payments.
If you are getting an error message or are unable to move forward on MAT/ONESPOT try clicking the "X" and that should clear the error and allow you to proceed.
We know this has been confusing so we are available to assist with any questions you may have. If you have already filed two returns, you can deduct the overpayment from future payments.
