Special Notification Regarding Sales Tax Payments
We are writing to inform you of a matter regarding sales tax payments.
What You Need to Know:
Prior to January 1, 2025, Jefferson County levied a 1% Sales Tax and a companion 1% Special Sales Tax. Effective January 1, 2025, Jefferson County combined those two taxes into one Sales Tax at a rate of 2%. You only need to pay once. Please do not make two payments.
We understand this has been confusing so we are available to assist with any questions you may have. If you have already filed two returns, you can deduct the overpayment from future payments.
