Bring a Friend!

This spring, you are invited to “Bring a Friend” to one of Alabama’s 22 state parks. Doing so will save you money on lodging the next time each of you visit. From April 1 through July 31, 2015, when you bring a new customer to a state park and each of you rents a campsite or stays in another overnight facility within the park, you will each receive a $25 voucher to use during a future visit. The voucher is good through February 28, 2016.

New Snapper Accountability Measures NOAA Fisheries announces a final rule that adds two long-term recreational accountability measures for red snapper.

Calling All Avid Turkey Hunters   The Alabama Wildlife and Freshwater Fisheries Division is encouraging turkey hunters who hunt for at least 10 days during turkey season to participate in the Avid Turkey Hunter Survey.

Feral Hog Hunters Cautioned about Swine Brucellosis Because swine brucellosis can have a long incubation time, immediate symptoms may not be present. If a hunter gets sick with flu-like symptoms, remember to inform the doctor of any contact with a feral hog.

NASP State Championship April 10 This year’s tournament will feature archers in grades 4-12 from schools across the state who earned a berth to the state championship after competing in a regional qualifying tournament.

Creek Kids Coming to State Parks The Creek Kids at Alabama State Parks field trips will be offered for free. However, reservations are necessary and park entry fees will apply.

Pinhoti Expansion Completed Work is now complete on the southern terminus of the Pinhoti National Recreation Trail located in the Forever Wild Land Trust Weogufka State Forest Addition in Coosa County.
