Calling all bird watchers and nature lovers! Lakepoint State Park is excited to be hosting the Fins, Feathers and Flowers weekend, Feb. 21-23. This is a great partnership event with presentations, socials and field trips. Make your plans and be sure to ask about the weekend overnight package.

Make your plans to attend the 35th annual Eagle Awareness Weekends at Lake Guntersville State Park. These fan-favorite weekends feature professional presenters, birds of prey demonstrations, socials and eagle watching field trips. Weekend overnight packages are also available. Amazing turnouts for our #firstdayhikes!! We had a total of 759 participants on 10 different hikes hosted by 8 different #alabamastateparks. Over the past 80 years, trails have been a fundamental part of the park system’s mission. Because of this, we created the Dirt Pass Trail Crew Program. This program is a way to voluntarily donate $35 per year to help support our efforts to improve our trail system. Your money goes directly to the maintenance, enhancement and planning of the Alabama State Parks trails system. All Dirt Pass membership donations are made online and each donating Dirt Pass member will receive a cool, Trail Crew t-shirt to show your pride in our program.

We understand how expensive it can be to plan excursions. Check out these park specials that save you money:

On December 16th Joe Wheeler State Park suffered severe tornado storm damage. It hurts to see the park with so much destruction, but our staff is resilient. The park is open and we encourage people to come visit. This video gives a birds eye view of the damage and cleanup the we face.

The Alabama State Parks Foundation is seeking members. This organization raises money for all 21 parks to enhance programming, facilities and parks experiences.
To celebrate the Alabama State Parks Foundation, you can join others in becoming a “First Friend and Founding Member” of the Foundation.

Don't forget to purchase a new Alabama State Parks car tag in 2020. Last names that begin with the letters A and D renew during the month of January. Last names with the letter B renew in February. For all you boat owners, we also have a boat tag and the same rules apply. This is a new form of much needed revenue for us. Watch the video.

Community partnerships are important to the #alabamastateparks. The Alabama Wildlife Center and the Interpretive Center inside Oak Mountain State Park are great examples of how these partnerships have positive impacts on young minds.
