November 2018 Alabama State Parks E- Newsletter

Last year, the AlabamStateParks introduced the new #ParksforPatriots Veterans Program. This voluntary program allows park visitors to provide free admission for veterans through sponsorship contributions. We are proud to provide this program as a tribute to all of the men and women who have provided us the freedoms we enjoy today. Visit alapark.com to learn more about this new program and how you can be a sponsor.
* Ask about the #ParksforPatriots program while visiting any state park.
* Honoring our Veterans by providing free entrance into parks 365 days a year.
* Veterans must show a valid form of I.D. - DD214, driver's license or retired military I.D.
* Sponsorship donations can be made online 24/7 and at most park point-of-sale locations.

The #AlabamaStateParks still have lots of color left. We encourage all of you to enjoy the great outdoors, especially this time of year. We always enjoy seeing our guests, but spending quality time during the holidays is special. There have been countless friendships created through these occasions and we look forward to many more. Make your plans to enjoy our Thanksgiving lunch buffets at any one of our Resort Parks.

It's never too early to talk about #EagleAwareness2019 Weekends at Lake Guntersville State Park. This annual event features socials, presentations, seminars and field trips that share knowledge about all birds of prey. The Park is home to dozens of eagles and you just never know what you will see. This is a favorite among our visitors so make your plans.

Back back popular demand - Santa's Underground Workshop at Rickwood State Park. This underground wonderland features thousands of wintry LED lights that add a spectacular touch to the cozy cave tours. Don't miss the dates for the visits from Santa.

Join us for the 43rd annual Parade of Lights at Joe Wheeler State Park. This has become a classic for folks that enjoy seeing Christmas lights with a twist. Dozens of boats in all shapes and sizes will decorate Wheeler Lake with festive colors.
