Thank you to all the coaches who registered their students for the Academic Archer program. We had several students selected for the NASP All-American Academic Team. We also had a student randomly selected at Nationals to receive a new bow and arrows.
Alabama has been recognized by NASP for being in the Top 5 for level of participation in the Academic Archer program. NASP has rewarded the Alabama Archery in the Schools Program with a paid intern to help us grow the program and specifically to grow the Academic Archer program in Alabama. Look for more exciting news as this develops.
NASP requires all instructors to report online at www.naspbai.org.
We still have instructors who have not reported for 2018. You must report even if you did not teach to maintain your active status. One instructor from each school must report having taught in-school NASP lessons to comply with the rule requiring 10 hours of instruction. If your school does not report, it will not be able to compete next year.
NASP Statement on Playing “Tag” or Similar Games With Archery Equipment
“NASP leadership believes that any instance where bows and arrows are intentionally aimed at another person, or aimed at any resemblance of the human form, represents an extremely unwise and dangerous situation. NASP desires to take a strong stance against any occurrence where bows and arrows are used in any form of 'tag' or similar simulation of aiming archery equipment at a human form. We consider this activity to be extremely dangerous and believe that it should be prohibited."
The Alabama Wildlife and Freshwater Fisheries Division agrees with this position completely!
The Alabama State Games offers two archery tournaments (FITA & 3D) that will be held at specific archery ranges in Huntsville on Saturday, June 9. Both events will start at separate times to allow for archers to shoot in both. Online registration is available until June 1, on-site registration is available the day of the event at the competition venues.
The conference will be July 27-28, 2018, at the Embassy Suites by Hilton of Lexington, Kentucky. Attendees of the 2016 Educator and Coaches Conference recommended all presentation topics offered in concurrent sessions. Each session will be provided by experienced NASP educators and coaches. This conference is truly designed by NASP coaches for NASP coaches!
