Summer seems to be in full force around the Alabama State Parks. With the weekends being nice and Summertime holidays just around the corner, most of our parks will be full of smiling faces. Sure, we have a variety of overnight accommodations, but we also have wonderful day-use areas. Whether you are planning a Saturday excursion or just an afternoon getaway, locations like Wind Creek State Park provide a variety of park fun. Check out this video.
The support of our park guests and the historic victory on Amendment 2 has provided the financial position for us to begin much needed improvements on our facilities. We have listened to your comments and suggestions and we are thankful for your understanding as we begin to work on our maintenance backlog. Thanks for sticking with us.
Have you heard of the new Esri Story Maps? These new, interactive maps are a cool way of combining maps, text, images and content while educating you on events and facilities around our parks. Check out our new Story Maps.
Sometimes our smaller parks get overlooked, but they provide top-notch overnight accommodations and scenery that are tough to beat. Check out the cabins at these parks:
Our employees are the best! Lots of work while most people are playing. Congratulations to our own Kristi Jones for being recognized by North Alabama Tourism as an Elite Tourism Professional of North Alabama. Kristi has been an important staff member at Joe Wheeler State Park for several years. Thanks for all that you do Kristi !
We always appreciate it when people choose to stay with us during national holidays. As you have fun over the upcoming Memorial Day holiday please remember those that died while fighting to protect this great nation and our freedoms. We will never forget !
We are fortunate to have so much natural diversity in this state. Matter of fact, Alabama has the richest biodiversity this side of the Mississippi river. We invite you to visit the Alabama State Parks to enjoy all that nature has to offer. This video shows the beauty on horseback at Wind Creek State Park. Thanks for your support !
