Martin Luther King Jr. Day Free Legal Help

The Alaska Bar Association and its partners will host a free legal clinic on during the Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service. Low-income Alaskans can receive advice from volunteer attorneys on civil legal matters, including family law, disaster assistance, housing, public benefits, and probate. Free shuttle service will be provided between the event and the 56th Avenue Shelter and the Brother Francis Shelter.

This theme emphasizes the importance of fostering intergenerational dialogue to share stories and experiences, ensuring that our rich heritage is preserved while actively addressing the historical struggles for equality, civil rights, and representation.

 On Friday, October 3, 2025, the U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT) issued an Interim Final Rule (49 CFR Parts 23 & 26, Docket No. DOT-OST-2025-0897, RIN 2105-AF33). This ruling makes immediate and significant changes to the Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) and Airport Concession DBE (ACDBE) programs nationwide. In compliance with this new ruling, the Alaska Department of Transportation (Alaska DOT&PF) Civil Rights Office (CRO) has created the following process to recertify DBE & ACDBE firms. It is the fraudulent practice of sending emails or other messages purporting to be from reputable companies in order to induce individuals to reveal personal information, such as passwords and credit card numbers.
