Alaska DOH sent this bulletin at 10/15/2021 02:51 PM AKDTToday Secretary of Health and Human Services, Xavier Becerra, declared under section 319 of the Public Health Service Act that a public health emergency exists nationwide and a renewal of the declaration is effective October 18, 2021.
The Division of Behavioral Health will continue to provide the following flexibilities related to the declaration of the public health emergency: (see attached guidance documents)
- DBH Expanded Telehealth Services v1.3
- DBH Guidance 6 Service Authorizations

DBH Guidance 5 v1.2 PRTF and Residential
- *acute psychiatric hospitals and PRTFs must continue to enter utilization review (UR) notes into the Comagine JIVA system and submit critical incident reports
This announcement does not impact the following services: (Alaska State Public Health Disaster Declaration Ends November 1, 2021)
- Withdrawal management services must comply with on-site requirements for community behavioral health service providers for services provided on or after November 1, 2021
- Telephone consultation or coordination with another service provider other than case management provided on or after November 1, 2021
