SFY 2022 DBH Guidance Document #1 – Level 3.5 Adolescent Treatment – CORRECTED
Alaska Department of Health sent this bulletin at 09/17/2021 02:14 PM AKDTOn Tuesday, August 24, 2021, The Division of Behavioral Health issued SFY 2022 DBH Guidance Document #1 – Level 3.5 Adolescent Treatment which provided guidance for reporting services for clients between the ages of 18 and 21 receiving Level 3.5 services in an adolescent program.
The document issued in August did not include provider instruction that a Residential Licensing variance must be requested and approved prior to admitting a client between the ages of 18 and 21 into a Level 3.5 adolescent treatment program.
A corrected version of SFY 2022 DBH Guidance Document #1 – Level 3.5 Adolescent Treatment – CORRECTED is attached as well as a copy of the General Variance Application for Residential Licensing. Corrections to the SFY 2022 DBH Guidance Document #1 – Level 3.5 Adolescent Treatment are bolded within the corrected guidance document and are as follows:
- Under “Purpose” header, changed wording FROM “…clients aged 18 and 21…” TO “…clients between the ages of 18 and 21…”
- Under “Guidance” header, added the following additional guidance:
Providers must submit and a licensing variance application and receive approval for the variance prior admitting a client aged between 18 (18 years, 0 days) and 21 (20 years, 364 days) into an adolescent treatment program. Variance requests are processed by the Residential Licensing Unit at the Division of Health Care Services.
A copy of the Residential Licensing General Variance Application is included with this notice.
