1115 SUD and 1115 BH Waiver Services Lift requirement of rendering provider on professional claims effective for dates of services on or after 04/01/2021 – Addendum

DBH eMemo important new for you

On March 27th, 2021 the Division issued a guidance document lifting the rendering provider requirement on professional claims effective April 1, 2021.  The provision was issued to mitigate any service interruption due to the unforeseen Medicaid provider enrollment application back log.  This document further clarifies the flexibilities and provider enrollment expectations.

  • The lifting of the requirement of a rendering provider (24j) on all professional claims submitted for 1115 waiver services remains in effect.
  • The requirements listed in 7 AAC 136.020(3) specific to the enrollment and affiliation for either a Qualified Addictions Professional (QAP) and or a Peer Support Specialists (PSS), providing any 1115 SUD Waiver service is included in the original guidance document issued March 27, 2021.
    • As a reminder, all 1115 SUD Waiver services providers must have a QAP and/or PSS approval letter from DBH prior to rendering any 1115 SUD Waiver services.
  • All providers must continue to submit their enrollment applications and affiliations to HCS

Here are some helpful hints to assist you navigate enrollment:

  • Carefully complete signature pages with the appropriate signature
  • NPI numbers and name must match what is on the NPPES site
  • All group application ownership information must match PECOS site
  • All group applications must complete disclosure statement
