1115 Alaska Demonstration Waiver services sunsetting 6/30/21

Sunset Services
In accordance with the agreement between the Division of Behavioral Health (DBH) and the Center for Medicaid and Medicare Services (CMS), the last technical piece of implementation of the 1115 Alaska Waiver demonstration is to “sunset” the services listed in Appendix B of the Alaska Waiver Demonstration project application.
The following services will sunset effective June 30, 2021:
H0018 – Behavioral rehabilitation services
H2017 – Recipient support services
H2015 – Comprehensive community support services
H0046 – Client status review
Claims submitted with the above codes for dates of service on or after July 1, 2021 will no longer be paid by Alaska Medicaid and will deny.
In our continued efforts to best serve Alaskans and advocate for Behavioral Health providers, DBH is pleased to announce the codes listed below will not sunset July 1, 2021 as anticipated:
T1016- Case management services
H2019- Therapeutic behavioral health services
At this time no future date has been established to sunset therapeutic behavioral health services and case management. Providers may continue to provide case management and therapeutic behavioral health services and submit claims for those services to Alaska Medicaid.
