Pre-Hospital Pediatric Resuscitation Discussion Pediatric out of hospital cardiac arrests (OHCA) have very poor outcomes. For a three year period in Alaska, only 4 of 68 pediatric OHCA survived with full neurological recovery. This compares poorly to adult OHCA Alaska outcomes which are more than four times higher. The causes and physiology of most pediatric versus adult OHCA are likely different, but nationwide adult survival rates have more than doubled and tripled in communities that have embraced improved resuscitation methods.
This ECHO session will focus upon how we might be able to provide better care in pediatric out of hospital cardiac arrests (based upon a recent study from Polk County, Florida) and may help us with setting and meeting treatment goals in these stressful events.
