Alaska COVID-19 Case Count Summary: July 17, 2020

DHSS today announced 49 new people with COVID-19 in Alaska. 39 are residents in 13 communities: Anchorage (17), Wasilla (4), Eagle River (3), Juneau (3), Fairbanks (2), Seward (2), Sitka (2) and 1 each in Chugiak, City of Kenai, Kenai Peninsula Borough North, Meadow Lakes, Yukon-Koyukuk Census Area & Soldotna. One pending case from July 15 was also added bringing the total number of Alaska cases to 1,733.
10 new nonresidents were also identified in:
- Juneau City and Borough: 3 seafood industry in Juneau
- Valdez-Cordova Census Area: 3 seafood industry in Valdez
- Sitka City and Borough: 2 under investigation in Sitka
- Kenai Peninsula Borough: 1 tourism in City of Kenai
- Unknown location: 1 under investigation
The total number of nonresident cases is 348.
Of the 39 Alaska residents, 14 are male and 25 are female. Five are aged 10-19; 13 are aged 20-29; 11 are aged 30-39; seven are aged 40-49 and three are aged 50-59.
There have been a total of 98 hospitalizations and 17 deaths with two new hospitalizations and no deaths reported yesterday. Recovered cases now total 697 with nine new recovered cases recorded yesterday. A total of 165,414 tests have been conducted. The average percentage of daily positive tests for the previous three days is 1.53%.
