Office of EMS Updates

Training, Education and Certification Memos

Please see the recently distributed memos below regarding certification extensions and guidance for EMS courses and psychomotor exams for the interim. These changes have been given much thought by the State Medical Director, the Office of EMS, and the State of Alaska Department of Health and Social Services and are being put in place to protect everyone's well-being. We thank you for all that you do to help arm our providers with the knowledge to help others. Thank you for your time and services.

EMS Statewide Assessment- Listening Sessions

We have paused the execution and planning of all Listening Sessions that have been scheduled for all of our stakeholders in cooperation with SafeTech Solutions with plans to examine the possibilities to plan in August with movement starting in October, 2020.

Statewide EMS Symposium Cancellations

The Southeast Regional EMS (SEREMS) Symposium was cancelled earlier this month followed closely behind the decision to cancel the Interior Region EMS (IREMS) Symposium in Fairbanks, Alaska, both scheduled for the last week of March.

The two regional offices are working on refunds for registration and exploring ways to bring continuing education and training to providers remotely through creative use of technology. Please direct any questions regarding these cancellations to the associated regional office.
