The first major revision of EMS regulations in over a decade was signed and filed June 22nd. The regulations will be effective August 21st; however there will be no major impacts on this day that services or providers need to be concerned about. Providers and instructors will need to complete updates that the ACMES Implementation Task Force and State Training Committee are currently in the process of finalizing. Instructors and providers will continue to operate under their old scope of practice and retain their current instructor level until the transitions have been accomplished. Over the course of the next week we will be finalizing timelines and learning objectives for transitions. We will also be releasing a FAQ sheet to answer most questions that the EMS system may have. Ambulance Transformation Assessment
The National Rural Health Resource Center has just announced the availability of a new EMS resource from the Technical Assistance and Services Center (TASC) Program. This resource provides assistance to rural ambulance agency leaders in assessing their agency’s readiness and supports agency's transition to value based payment models that reward people centered care and positive patient outcomes. Alaska agency leaders are encouraged to complete the assessment periodically to monitor their progress as the healthcare system transitions to value-based payment models. Complete the Self-Assessment Here.
H.R. 776 Passes
The House and the Senate passed H.R. 776, the Emergency Medical Services for Children (EMSC) Program Reauthorization Act of 2019, extending the authorization for the EMSC program for another 5 years, until 2024. H.R. 776 is now headed to the President for his signature.Thank you for your continued advocacy of the EMSC program!
