The Alaska State Board of Education Holds Special Virtual Meeting
JUNEAU, AK – The Alaska State Board of Education and Early Development (Board) held a special virtual meeting on Wednesday, December 6, 2023.
The Board heard an update from the University of Alaska, Anchorage School of Education, a presentation on the final report from Cook Inlet Tribal Council Culturally Relevant Schools grant, an update from the Department of Education and Early Development (DEED) regarding State-Tribal Education Compacting, and the Commissioner's 100-Day Report.
The Board opened public comment for two proposed regulation changes: Assessment Cut Scores and Assessment Participation Guidelines. Both proposed changes can be found at the State of Alaska Online Public Notices.
The Board adopted the change in regulations regarding the Limited Teacher Certificates and Seal of Biliteracy.
At the virtual meeting, the Board also appointed Amber Cunningham as the Parent Representative for Term A on the Mt. Edgecumbe High School Advisory Board and appointed Joshua Pak as the State Board of Education Student-Advisor Elect.
The Board’s next scheduled meeting is a virtual meeting on January 17, 2023.
