AC Transit Fare Change Proposal: Effect on Dumbarton Express Fares

Dumbarton Express

As you may be aware, Dumbarton Express basic fares are the same as AC Transit's, so when AC Transit's fares changes, so do those of the Dumbarton Express.

In April, the AC Transit Board of Directors voted not to raise fares this year, as originally scheduled. Instead, a decision was made to explore a new fare structure and pricing with potential benefits for riders and service reliability overall. Any fare changes adopted would also apply to the Dumbarton Express (DBX), pending approval by the other DBX consortium agencies (AC Transit, BART, SamTrans, Santa Clara VTA, and Union City Transit).

A proposal is now ready for public review and comment, and includes these elements:

• Introducing a local Day Pass & eliminating transfers
• Adjusting local pass prices
• Offering discounts on local Clipper fares

We encourage you to read the full description of how the proposal would affect you as a Dumbarton Express rider. A series of community meetings on the proposal will be held, October 8 - 16. The first of these meetingsis being held in Fremont:

October 8, 6:00-7:30pm
California School for the Blind
500 Walnut Avenue, Fremont

The AC Transit Board will hold a public hearing on October 23, in Oakland. If you'd like to attend, here are the details:

October 23, 2:00pm & 5:00pm
AC Transit General Offices
1600 Franklin Street

There are a number of ways to comment; we'd like to hear from you! Please note that any changes adopted by the AC Transit Board would likely go into effect in July, 2014.  Thanks for riding the Dumbarton Express.
