BRT Construction Sites through November 27th, 2019

AC Transit is committed to providing the most accurate information for anyone seeking information along the 9.5-mile BRT corridor. Currently, construction crews are hard at work building BRT stations, installing new wheelchair accessible curb ramps, modern traffic signals, LED street lighting and more innovative improvements in the following neighborhoods.


A&U1

The intersection of International Blvd. and Fruitvale Ave. was reconstructed over the course of two nights to minimize impacts to local businesses, motorists, and pedestrians. A final layer of asphalt will be applied in the coming weeks, followed by new, high-visibility crosswalks for safer street crossings! (11/12/19)

The BRT Public Outreach Team worked closely with the contractor and nearby residents to schedule a concrete pour at the southbound Madison Street Station while ensuring residents could still access driveways and parking spots (11/8/19).


A&U3

Crews begin pouring the new concrete slabs at the San Leandro BART Station (11/13/19). After the concrete dries, AC Transit buses currently stopping at the transit center’s island will resume passenger loading and unloading near the BART entrance. Work will then begin on building BRT station platforms!

About AC Transit’s Bus Rapid Transit (BRT)
BRT is a $216 million investment in the community. BRT bus service mirrors the frequency, reliability and safety of light-rail train service without the high cost of building a rail line. BRT will operate along a 9.5-mile corridor between downtown Oakland and the San Leandro BART Station, primarily along International Boulevard and East 14th Street.
