Reminder: Changes December 19 on Dumbarton Express
Alameda-Contra Costa Transit District (AC Transit) sent this bulletin at 12/15/2011 05:43 PM PST
Reminding all Dumbarton Express passengers that on Monday, December 19, various changes will go into effect. Also see additional notes below.
Service Schedule:
| DB | (Revised) Trips leaving Deer Creek at 9:52 a.m. and 6:00 p.m., and trip leaving Union City BART at 3:20 p.m., discontinued. Minor time changes on other trips. |
| DB1 | Trip leaving Deer Creek at 7:20 p.m. discontinued. |
| DB3 | Line discontinued. |
For detailed information, see the preview schedules for Line DB and Line DB1.
Service Provider:
While AC Transit will continue to administer the Dumbarton Express service on behalf of the Dumbarton Express consortium (AC Transit, BART, SamTrans, Union City Transit, and VTA), the service will now be operated by MV Transportation. The buses will be the same (with the exception of two replacement buses), but you'll have new bus operators.
Fare Payment:
Passengers will continue to pay with Clipper, cash, or the currently accepted flash passes. Because magnetic-strip card readers will not be part of the new farebox on your buses, passengers who typically ask for or use a mag-strip transfer will now get a plain paper transfer from the bus operator.
If you happen to use one of the few other AC Transit mag-strip tickets still in circulation, please note that these will no longer be accepted for payment on lines DB and DB1 after a short grace period. In order to assist you in making the transition to another form of fare payment, please e-mail MCR@actransit.org and tell us which mag-strip ticket you use and from which agency or organization you received it.
Please note that some aspects of Clipper back-end operations have been transitioned, but there should be no interruption in Clipper availability. If, however, you do experience any problems, please let your bus operator know.
NextBus & 511 Departures:
Real-time departure predictions will not be available for lines DB and DB1 for up to three months as the system is reestablished with MV Transportation.
Wi-fi:
Free wi-fi will continue to be available on all buses with the exception of the two replacement buses mentioned above. MV Transportation will equip those buses with wi-fi in the near future.
Customer Service:
Passengers with service questions, complaints, and commendations should continue to contact AC Transit via the customer feedback form or by calling 511 and saying "AC Transit." For Lost & Found, the new number to call is (415) 206-7386.
Thank you for riding the bus!
